Super Nintendo World Hollywood Tickets & Early Access Guide
Updated July 2026. I visited in December 2023; current ticket and attraction details below were checked against Universal Studios Hollywood before this update.
Quick answer: You do not need a separate ticket for SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ Hollywood. It is inside Universal Studios Hollywood and is included with regular park admission. The optional SUPER NINTENDO WORLD Early Access Ticket is a separate add-on and does not include theme park admission.
Super Nintendo World Hollywood tickets: what is included?
- Regular admission: Includes entry to Universal Studios Hollywood and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Online 1-Day General Admission currently starts at $109, with date-based pricing.
- Early Access: A separate, date-specific add-on that lets you enter SUPER NINTENDO WORLD one hour before the scheduled park opening. You still need a same-day park ticket.
- Universal Express: The official Mario Kart attraction page currently lists Express access. This is different from Early Access: Express shortens the attraction line, while Early Access gets you into the land before regular opening.
- Power-Up Band: Optional and sold separately. You only need it for interactive Key Challenges, collecting coins and stamps, and saving your Mario Kart score.
Ticket prices and availability change by date. The button currently goes to Universal Studios Hollywood’s official ticket page and is not an affiliate link.
Is Super Nintendo World Early Access worth it?
For my visit, yes. We went directly to Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and rode before its queue grew beyond an hour. Early Access is most useful if Mario Kart is your priority and you are willing to arrive early enough to clear parking and security before the Early Access window begins.
My recommended morning strategy
- Check the official park opening and Early Park Admission times for your date.
- Arrive with enough time for parking, security and the walk through the Upper Lot.
- Go straight down the long escalators to the Lower Lot and ride Mario Kart first.
- If you want to eat at Toadstool Cafe, book a time through the Universal Studios Hollywood app or website. Reservations can open up to 60 days ahead and are limited.
- After Mario Kart, explore the photo spots and decide whether the paid Power-Up Band activities are worth your remaining time.
Two useful things to bring
Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Compact USB-C power bank: Your phone handles mobile tickets, wait times, Toadstool Cafe bookings, Power-Up Band syncing, photos and video, so battery life matters more than it does on a typical sightseeing day.
- Super Mario hat: Bringing one can save souvenir-shopping time and gives you an easy photo prop as soon as you enter the land.
I would buy the Power-Up Band from an official Universal Studios Hollywood retail location instead of a marketplace reseller. That makes it easier to confirm that the band is new, compatible and reasonably priced.
My December 2023 Super Nintendo World visit
I still love amusement parks, and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD was the part of Universal Studios Hollywood I was most excited to see. We visited in December 2023 after missing Universal on our previous Los Angeles trip, and walking through the green pipe genuinely felt like stepping into a Super Mario game.

For our December 2023 visit, we paid $109 per person for regular admission and $20 per person for Early Access. Those are historical prices from our trip, not current quotes. The add-on worked well for us: we rode Mario Kart before the regular queue climbed above an hour.

As you can see from the directory above, Universal Studios is divided into three main areas:
- Upper Lot: Harry Potter, Studio Tour, Pets, Despicable Me, The Simpsons, Kung Fu Panda
- Lower Lot: Mario Kart (Super Nintendo World), Jurassic Park, Transformers, Mummy
- Live Show: Water World
Since we gained early access to Super Nintendo World, we decided to explore the entire Lower Lot first and then move on to the Upper Lot. Perhaps because it was a weekday, the crowd was not too overwhelming. As a result, we were able to ride all attractions except for Transformers, which was temporarily closed during our visit.

After going through several ticket checks (including separate checks for the admission ticket and the early access ticket), we walked for a while until we finally reached the escalator leading to the Lower Lot!
People wearing adorable Mario hats were all around. Although I wanted to buy something too, we decided to enter quickly for now.

There it was, Super Nintendo World in the distance.

Oh my, how cute!

As we officially entered, a breathtaking landscape unfolded before us.
It genuinely felt like stepping into a Super Mario game! They brought it to life so well. It was incredibly cute, the music was familiar, and…
There was Toad…! Toad was so charming, taking pictures with people. I couldn’t resist and stood in line, enchanted by the irresistibly cute mushroom.

It was the most memorable character from that day, surpassing even Mario and Luigi, whom we did see but did not end up taking a photo with. Perhaps they seemed a bit too mature. 🤣
In reality, most people at Super Nintendo World had Power-Up bands on their wrists. With these bands, you could check in at various points in Super Nintendo World and play games. Since I was just there to look around and ride the Mario Kart, I didn’t purchase a band. Plus, it was $40 each which felt too expensive for me.
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge review

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is the land’s main ride. The Power-Up Band Key Challenges are interactive games rather than additional rides.

The waiting space was so beautiful and cute that there was no time to be bored.

After passing through the indoor waiting area, we entered an outdoor waiting area.
A panoramic view of Super Nintendo World unfolded before us!

Continuing with various photo spots. We were quite busy taking pictures.

And finally, just before riding!
Mario Kart isn’t a ride where you sit still; it’s an interactive ride where you have to do a bit of driving and shooting. They kindly explained how to play.
Finally, it was our turn to ride…! People who rode before us were coming out.

It was so cute when the staff members applauded when people were returning. 😁
The ride uses a visor with special goggles that attaches magnetically to the Mario cap-style headband. Mine felt a little heavy and gradually slid down as I turned my head, even after I tightened the knob at the back.
It was a bit uncomfortable, but the ride/game itself was fun! Being second place in our team of four made me feel good, hehe.

Afterwards, we headed straight to the souvenir shop.

Inside SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is the incredibly cute Toadstool Cafe. We booked on mobile after entering but missed our time while taking photos and riding Mario Kart. Universal now says dining times are available through its app or website up to 60 days in advance, are limited, and do not guarantee immediate seating.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Super Nintendo World, and the entire experience was nothing short of adorable. One of the highlights was capturing a moment with Toad in a photo. Riding Mario Kart was a special experience trying interactive VR game/ride. For anyone curious about the intricacies of Super Nintendo World, I hope this post proves to be a helpful guide! 🍄
