The Knot Sapporo

For my recent trip to Sapporo, finding the right hotel was an adventure on its own. I found myself going back and forth on a few options, reserving and then canceling as I kept searching for the best deal. Why the indecision? Well, as my travel dates got closer, the hotel prices started dropping! This was a bit of a surprise—late August is usually a busy time in Japan with summer holidays—but with the recent news about earthquakes and typhoons, there seemed to be a wave of cancellations, opening up rooms at lower rates.

In the end, I landed on The Knot Sapporo, which stood out for its prime location and high ratings for cleanliness and service. The total cost was about 670,000 KRW (roughly $500 USD) for three nights, including the weekend—a solid deal given the hotel’s reputation and amenities.

When we arrived, we found that the hotel lived up to the reviews. The Knot Sapporo has a stylish yet cozy lobby, with warm wooden tones that give a welcoming vibe from the moment you step in.

The Knot Sapporo

The reception is located on the second floor, which is a bit unique, and the layout feels spacious and uncluttered. There’s a laundry room in the basement, which is a lifesaver for longer stays, and a convenient underground pathway directly connecting to a shopping mall. This direct access was a major plus, especially with Sapporo’s unpredictable weather—it meant we could shop or explore without stepping into the rain.

Check-out was refreshingly easy. You don’t even need to stop by the front desk if you’re in a hurry; you simply drop the key card in a designated box inside the elevator. You can even call the front desk to check out by phone, but it’s hardly necessary. The convenience here really impressed me, and it’s perfect for those who want a quick and seamless exit.

The Knot Sapporo Standard Room (Two Twin Beds)

Our room was a Standard Room with two twin beds, and we had a nice view of the city and nearby tram line. Despite being a standard option, the room didn’t feel cramped. It was well-equipped with everything you might need, and the layout was thoughtful, making good use of the space. The closet had two sections, each accessible by sliding the mirrored door, which was a nice touch. Inside, they provided comfortable loungewear and slippers, which we appreciated after a long day out exploring.

One small perk that I found handy was the fabric mist spray in the room. After enjoying some local Sapporo dishes, like Jingisukan (the city’s popular lamb BBQ), the fabric mist was perfect for freshening up our clothes. It’s a thoughtful detail that shows the hotel’s understanding of its guests’ needs.

In terms of other amenities, the room had a mini-fridge to keep drinks cold, an air purifier for comfort, and an electric kettle, plus a safe to store valuables. A notable point: the windows in the room don’t open, which is a common feature in Japanese hotels to maintain temperature control and safety. They also provided two bottles of water each day, which was convenient for staying hydrated on the go.

The room’s electrical outlets were another practical feature. On the table, there were two 110V outlets and one USB port, ideal for charging multiple devices. Each bed also had its own 110V outlet and USB port on the side, making it easy to keep devices close while charging—especially useful for anyone who likes to unwind with some phone time before bed.

Our view out the window? Mega Don Quijote! Being in Susukino, Sapporo’s bustling nightlife district, The Knot Sapporo offered a fun view and fantastic location. With countless dining options, shopping, and entertainment venues just steps away, the area really comes alive at night. We had no worries about finding late-night food or places to shop, making the location ideal for travelers looking to make the most of Sapporo’s vibrant scene.

The front desk provided all the essentials, like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other amenities, in case you need them. And one more fun bonus: they gave us coins that could be exchanged for drinks at the hotel bar. Though we had every intention of using them, we were so busy with meals and outings around town that we didn’t end up redeeming them!

In summary, The Knot Sapporo exceeded expectations with its cleanliness, well-thought-out amenities, and great location. For its price, it offered everything a traveler could want. If you’re planning a trip to Sapporo, I highly recommend this hotel as a base for exploring the city comfortably and in style!
